Brunei has a selection of places of interest for visitors to enjoy while staying in Brunei. the country not only rich of its flora and fauna but is also rich of culture and heritage as it has a well preserved culture which has existed more than 600years ago. the country has lots places of interest to offer to visitors such as The water village, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddean Mosque, The Royal Regalia Building, Ulu Temburong National parks and lots more.
Water village or Kampung ayer
known as "Venice of the East" by early European traveller in the 15th century. The Water village is situated along the brunei river in the capital city. its been the home for more than 25000 people in Brunei Darussalam since 600 years ago and is a living tradition of Bruneian people as the house here represent the daily life of the Bruneian people. houses are still constructed using the traditional method which the house is still built on wooden stilts.
The Royal Regalia Building
was officiated in 1992 to commemorates his majesty 25th anniversary to the throne. inside this building visitors might be able to see a collection of all the royal armoury used during the coronation and also the history of the Brunei Royal family. inside also has a replica of the golden cat and the crown which was used for the sultan during his coronation. Admission is free and opens everyday excepts on sunday. operating hours from 8am to 12pm, 1pm till 5pm.
Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque
the same as the Royal Regalia building the mosque was built to commemorates his majesty 25th anniversary to the throne.this moswue is one of the largest mosque in South east Asia.every aspect such as the dome and stairs used the number 29 as to represent the 29th Sultan of Brunei. Dome is made of 24 carat gold and most of the building structure is import from other countries such as chandlier is from Austria, marble and tiles from spain.
